Got Questions? We've Got You Covered
How does it work?
Honed Sharp's Angle Master ProRoll Sharpener is euper easy to use!. Attach any knife to the magnetic knife sharpener and use the rolling disc sharpeners by gliding it along the edge of the blade.
Can you use Honed Sharp with any knife?
It works great on most metal household knives! Blades it is not suitable for are ceramic knives, serrated blades, bread knives, and scissors.
How do I sharpen blades larger than the sharpening disc?
For taller knives, the Angle Master Rolling Sharpener can be underlaid with a cutting board so the grinder is elevated to the level of the cutting edge.
How long does it take?
Most knives have a certain angle from the factory, which is between 12 and 22 degrees, but it is not always consistent. The first sharpening therefore takes between 2 and 6 minutes. For special blades with high hardness, such as Damascus, it can take up to 10 minutes. From the second use, after the knife has become a little dull again, the re-sharpening takes only a few moves forward and backward, because the grinding angle is already given by the first re-sharpening.
How long do the sharpening discs last?
Our sharpening discs are made of diamond--diamond is the hardest material on the planet (it is considered the best material for precision knife sharpening in the world). When used properly, it will not need to be replaced.
How do you choose the proper sharpening angle?
This does depend on the type of knife and its intended use.
12-degree angle: This angle creates a fine and delicate edge that shouldn't be used for chopping, especially if the steel is harder: doing so can cause impact damage. This lower angle works well for cutting soft foods or slicing meats
15-degree angle: Ideal for very fine and delicate slicing tasks. This angle is suitable for thinly ground knives such as fillet knives, Sashimi knives and other precision cutting tools.
18-degree angle: Great for slicing and trimming. Pocket knives are usually between 17 and 25 degrees making them a bit more sturdy and holding up to a day's work
20-degree angle: Well-suited for a wide range of general kitchen tasks. It's recommended for knives with a tougher steel such as damascus chef's knives and santoku knives.
22-degree angle: Perfect for cutting through tougher materials. The recommended angle for hunting knives
